Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 416
Happy Wednesday! It’s time for Wednesday Hodgepodge again! Grab the questions from Joyce, answer them on your own blog, and then link up in the party! Then, take some time to visit your “neighbors” in the link party and check out their answers! Let’s have some fun!
1. Find a penny. Look at the date and tell us something about your life or what you were doing that year?
I dug into my penny jar and pulled out a 2008 penny. In 2008, in July, I found out I was pregnant with the twins. So, I spent 2008 pregnant. The last part of 2008, I was on complete bedrest, so I spent most of the time lying on the couch.
2. Were you given an allowance as a child? Did you have to earn it in some way? Did you learn to save money when you were a child or is that something you figured out as an adult?
I was given an allowance at times. I usually had to do something to earn it. I did have a “dad exchange program” when I was an adult and on my own for the first time. I would ask my dad if he had change for a $5, to get something out of the machine at work (we worked together). He would say no, give me a $10 and buy me a pop. I joke that it was a great exchange rate in those days. I didn’t learn to save until I was an adult and learned about Dave Ramsey’s program.
3. April 23rd is National Take A Chance Day…what’s a chance you need or want to take?
Whenever I see “Take a Chance,” I always think of that scene in Mamma Mia! where Julie Walters and Stellan Skarsgard since during the wedding reception. Which, by far, is one of the best musicals ever. But, I digress…
But, something I need to take a chance on…. hmmmm…. does cleaning my garage count? It’s scary in there.
4. What’s some outdated slang you seem to use a little too often?
I call people “Dude” all the time. Even my boyfriend. It’s just a habit and I really need to stop.
5. It’s National Poetry month and I always like to make us work our brains a little…Roses are red
Violets are blue
….you fill in the rest with something original…
Roses are red, violets are blue, it’s snowing in April, the sun is shining too.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I have been working from home a year. I have been back in the office a handful of times, but not regularly. I have a pretty good setup at home – desk, monitor, white board, etc. I miss going into the office and seeing my friends, but I don’t miss having to wear a uniform, being interrupted, dealing with office politics, and driving. Some days, I go back and forth over whether I truly want to go back into the office. I get to stay home in my comfy clothes all day, can grab something to drink or a snack and get back to work, spend time with my kids, love on my cats, work on the deck… it is rather bittersweet for me knowing that with everyone getting vaccines, that we might be going back soon. I like staying home and working – I am more productive at home in 8 hours, than I am at work. Wonder if anyone would notice if I had pajamas made that look like my uniform when I go back?
I’ve heard some companies say production is up with people working from home, so they may leave it that way. Or at least offer flexibility. I love Mamma Mia. I’ve seen it on stage in NY and London both and love the very end with the entire audience on their feet singing along. Have a great day!
I second the idea of having pjs that look like your uniform. What’s not to love about that?
I’d like to sign up for dad exchange program!
Dave Ramsey has helped so many people. We were good money managers, but Ron Blue and then Dave Ramsey solidified our saving habits.
Hi! Visiting from the hodgepodge today! I loved your “Take a Chance” answer because I had the exact same thought when I first read that question! One of my favorite musicals 🙂 And whew! Your weather poem sure sums up the crazy weather April has been showing. Happy Wednesday!
