Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 282
Happy Hump Day! I hope you are having a great week so far. It’s time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge, that fun, random question blog hop that Joyce hosts for us each week. She asks the questions, we provide the answers. We’d love to have you join us. Hop over to visit her and grab the questions, answer them on your own blog, and then link up! It’s as easy as pie!
1. Have you ever been to and/or lived near the desert? What did you think? Travel and Leisure lists the ‘coolest’ American desert towns as-
Palm Springs CA, Virgina City NE, Bend OR, Winslow AZ, Marfa TX, Grand Junction CO, Silver City NM, Moab UT, Taos NM, Yakima WA, Borrego Springs CA, Terlingua TX, and St. George UT, and Tubac AZ
Have you been to any of these? Would you like to visit a desert town? Which on the list would you most like to see?
I haven’t been to any of the desert towns listed. I wanted to visit Winslow while in Arizona, but we didn’t have time. I am not sure I would specifically want to visit a desert town, but I would like to visit Winslow. For the simple fact I want to stand on the corner and have my picture taken.
2. What’s a plan or project you’ve deserted in the past year?
I really really really wanted to get some painting done inside… especially the kids’ bedrooms. Don hates to paint and I don’t want to do it myself. I need to get it done though…anyone want to help? I’ll buy pizza!
3. Desert-dessert? Share two or three words you find yourself having to think twice about when it comes to spelling.
I always have to sound out February to make sure I spell it right… FEB -ARE-U-AIRY. Another one is reconciliation… you’d think as an accountant I would have spelled it a million times, but it always makes me pause and I have to remember if it has two L’s or just one.
4. High and dry, like watching paint dry, dry run, dry as dust, not a dry eye in the house…which phrase can you relate to currently? Explain.
At this exact moment – it is Tuesday evening when I am writing this – Don is playing some shoot ’em up video game… and it is like watching paint dry. I don’t understand the fascination with video games.
5. How often do you frequent the dry cleaners? Starch or no starch?
I never go to the dry cleaners. I do use starch when I iron my shirts though.
6. What’s a food or beverage you enjoy that’s named for a place?
Buffalo Chicken Wings… lol. Does that count? I love me some Buffalo sauce.
7. Do you need solitude?
Yes, but I rarely get it. I would just like 10 minutes to curl up with a book and a blanket without interruptions, fighting kids, or anything else. Just silence.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Keeping (somewhat) with the desert theme, a few years ago mom and I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to visit my aunt and uncle. While there, we planned a trip to the Grand Canyon, Williams, and Sedona. We chose to stay in Williams for the night because I always wanted to see Route 66 in Arizona, so we found a motel in Williams. Rewind a few days prior, mom and I flew non-stop in Phoenix. While on the plane, this handsome, older man got on the plane and when he walked by he smiled and said hi to us. Mom and I both were like “He’s good looking” and promptly forgot about him. So, here we are in Williams, Arizona…at Goldie’s Route 66 Diner eating lunch. We were paying our bill and I saw this life size statue of Betty Boop and I asked her to take my picture by it. As soon as I did, we here this voice say, “Ladies, if you get together I will take it for you.” It was the good looking man from the plane! Mom and I both lost it and started laughing. What are the odds?
Painting…ugh…I’d volunteer to help, but my painting skills are lacking. The last time I painted was at a Habitat for Humanity project house, I was so bad at painting that the coordinator put me in the closet to paint. He said that way, no one would notice my goofs…lol. Have a good week.
Cheers!
