Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 269

June 8, 2016

Happy Wednesday!  I hope summer has hit where you are and that you are staying cool in the heat.  It is nice and warm here, but not too hot.  Well, except for Saturday… when, of course, we have plans that involve us being outside all day… its supposed to be sweltering!  Since it is Wednesday, that means it is time for Wednesday Hodgepodge – a fun, random question blog post where Joyce asks the questions and we provide the answers.  Keep reading to see what random things you will learn about me today…

1. I read here a list of 13 things you should do in June. I’m paraphrasing a little but basically…

Go on a road trip with your best friend, pick fresh strawberries, host a garden party, take a morning run, treat yourself to a flower bouquet, spend a whole day hiking, discover a new coffee shop, try a new ice cream flavor, read at least one book, visit a Farmer’s Market, make a swing for your home, and visit a new city.

Which thing on the list do you most want to do? Of the activities mentioned, which one holds the least appeal? How many on the list will you attempt in June? What’s one thing you’d add to the list?

The item I would most want to do is read a book.  But, as much as I read I will more than likely be reading several books in the month of June.  Going for a morning run is my least favorite.  I am not sure how many I will try this month… but I am sure visiting a Farmer’s Market and trying a new ice cream flavor will be high on the list.

2. What’s something you could do today to feel more peaceful?

Find the “off” switch to my negative inner voice.

3. June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Are you a fan? Swiss mocha, rocky road, chocolate chocolate chip, peanut butter and chocolate, or a dish of plain chocolate…what’s your pleasure?

Yes.  All of the above!  Of those, my favorite would have to be rocky road.  A place near our town has a small, hand dipped ice cream shop and they have something called Mackinaw Island Fudge that is to die for.

4. If you came with a warning what would it say?

Warning:  Avoid if you lack common sense.

5.What’s the most interesting website you’ve visited in the last week?

Well, I just booked a family vacation to Myrtle Beach in September.  So, I would have to say the various “visit Myrtle Beach” websites.

6. Spring, summer, autumn, winter…which season are you? Why?

Autumn.  I like the muted colors, appley-things, spicy smells, falling and changing leaves…

7. “You lose sight of things…and when you travel, everything balances out.” ~Daranna Gidel

Would you agree with that sentiment? Explain why or why not.

Totally agree.  Traveling puts things back in perspective and makes you appreciate your home and family that much more.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

This morning, on the way to work, I saw this doe and fawn standing in a field really close to the road.  I slowed down, in case the momma was going to run in front of me.  But she just stood there and the fawn started nursing.  I wanted to stop and take a picture but was afraid they would run off and the little baby wouldn’t get his breakfast.  It was so adorable.

A mother deer gave birth to the most adorable creature I’ve ever seen in our NJ neighborhood. It was a few years ago and my daughter and I saw the newborn and we both say to this day it was the cutest thing we’ve ever seen. I love having a trip on the calendar. Looking forward to travel is almost as much fun as the actual trip.
