Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 224

Happy Wednesday!  After a short getaway last week to Amish Country, I am almost caught up and back into the swing of things at work and home.  Some days, I am not sure how I went to school to get my Master’s!  I STILL don’t have any free time!  Make sure you stop by tomorrow for some super-cute, retro recipe cards!  If you are a long-time reader or a first-time visitor, you will find that Wednesday’s mean is it Wednesday Hodgepodge time!  So, check out my answers to the random questions below.  If you have your own blog and want to have some fun, visit Joyce and link up the answers on your own blog!

1. June is National Great Outdoors Month. Have you spent any time appreciating the great outdoors this month? If so where, and if not do you have any plans to enjoy the great outdoors before the calendar turns?

We spent a lot of time outdoors this weekend in Holmes County, Ohio.  One morning we spent at a working farm and had a very windy picnic at a rest area beside a beautiful valley – complete with picturesque farms and running horses.  This week though has been nothing but rain and more rain.

2. What’s a current hot button issue for you?

I don’t know if it is a “hot button,” but it is one of those things that make me shake my head in disbelief.  Recently, in Xenia a truck carrying 2,000 piglets crashed and the piglets got loose.  As a joke, someone built the three little pigs’ houses.  Whether as a memorial or to be funny – they were priceless.  Until the Big Bad Wolf tore them down.  I have heard conflicting reports of whether it was the Ohio Department of Transportation or the Xenia police department.  But, it just makes me shake my head.  Its okay for memorials to be erected for individuals who have been killed in Ohio, but when someone does something that is lighthearted and cute, they hit the roof.  Heaven forbid the people in the area have a smile on their face for the day.

3. What’s a food or treat that ‘disappears like hotcakes’ in your house?

Strawberries.  But, no one admits to eating them.  I think we have a strawberry thief.

4. How hot is too hot?

Let’s see….. from about June until mid-September?  Anything over 70 and humid/muggy/hot is too dang hot for me.

5. Do you have an artistic outlook on life? What does that mean to you?

I think so.  To me, it means taking the time to appreciate the beauty in the things around me.  Hence, the three little pigs’ houses…

6. What’s one question you’d like to ask your father, or one you wish you could ask your father?

Why didn’t you take better care of yourself?

7. Something you learned from your father?

How to drag race.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Every day, one of the guys from the plant comes in on break and asks me how the “buy air conditioning for the plant” campaign is coming.  I feel so sorry for them – it is so dang hot even with all the fans and bay doors open.  I can barely stand being out there for five minutes and they are out there for 8+ hours.  I wish I was rich and could just buy them the air conditioning units that would make them more comfortable.  Maybe I should play the lottery.

  1. That’s sad that people tore those houses down; that’s a cute creative idea!

  2. My husband works where there is no air conditioning in their shop too and it has been in the upper 90’s here in NC. Bothers me to no end, yet the company can spend thousands on golf getaways, trips, etc. for their salesman. Don’t get it!! How to drag race – interesting and very cool! From Hodgepodge link up

  3. That would irk me too. The one place I worked at was like that… thankfully, here when they cut back every one cuts back.
