Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 220

May 13, 2015

Happy Wednesday!  It’s been a crazy weekend and week so far.  I need a break!  Don and I moved our bedroom into a different area of the house so the kids could have rooms across from each other, then work is crazy, and my office is having a spider and ant invasion.  UGH.  I will be glad when this week is over!  Since it is Wednesday, it’s time for Wednesday Hodgepodge!

1. When is your next big deadline? What’s it for?

Hmmmm.  I’d have to say getting our ICQ completed by month end at work.  The ICQ stands for “internal controls questionnaire” and we have to answer a bunch of questions on the controls we have in place at our business unit for the auditors.

2. May is National Barbecue Month. Do you prefer cooking indoors or out? What’s the best thing about a barbecue? What’s the last thing you cooked on an outdoor grill?

It depends on what I am cooking.  Burgers and steak, definitely on the grill.  Chicken, not so much.  The best thing about the barbecue is that smoky taste.  Don cooked a sirloin steak on the grill Saturday night as my Mother’s Day dinner.

3. What is one thing on your “never again” list?

Having babies.

4. What’s something that annoys you about people your own age? Something you love about your generation?

Wow.  I would have to say how negative people are.  Its like we were crammed between the baby boomers and the ME generation, so we had to be pissy to get what we wanted out of life.  If that makes sense.  I know some people claim we are Generation Xers… which is what I always associated with, but other people claim we are Gen Yers.  This article pretty much sums it up.

Something I love is… when you think about it… we have gone from no Internet/computers/cell phones to being connected non-stop.  My generation has picked this up rather quickly, while the generation before tends to struggle with it.  As the article I linked above said… I typed my college admission essay on a typewriter and had my first email address in college.  So, we have run the gamut of electronics.

5. Lilac, iris, hyacinth, pansy…your favorite purple flower?

Definitely lilac.  I just wish they lasted all summer!

6. Whats a song that always calms you down?

American Pie.  I think it is because my brother and I used to sing it ALL.  THE.  TIME.

7. What’s the last thing you donated?

Time.  I volunteered for a couple days not too long ago to do crafts for The Clubhouse here in town.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

So, I am on the way to work today and I pull up to a stop sign in the country and here is this lone goat just standing next to the stop sign chomping on grass without a care in the world.  And, because it is early and my brain doesn’t function well until about 9:30, I could only think of two things – he looks like he is waiting for a bus to school and that song/puppet show from the Sound of Music (movie) with the goats.  And, now I will have that song in my head the rest of the day.

I guess getting 2 for 1 would result in not doing babies again! I have the goat song in my head now. lol
