The Hubs’ Surgery
I wanted to let my readers what was going on, some of you have become dear friends during the time I have been blogging and didn’t want you to worry. The Hubs went to the hospital on Friday morning with severe vomiting and stomach pains. This has been going on and off for a couple of months. They ran a bunch of tests and he had intussusception…. which is where part of the bowel “telescopes” back on itself. I received a call from him just after lunch that they were operating on him that day.
I left work and rushed to the hospital. By the time I got there, they had already taken him into preop. I was able to see him for a few minutes before his surgery. He made it through with flying colors. They cut out about a foot of his intestines and inside the telescoping area was a mass that was sent to pathology. We are still waiting on the results from that. He will be in the hospital 4-5 days until he is able to go home. He will then be off work for several weeks until he heals.
He is doing really well and the nurses are always bragging about how well he is doing. He has sat up in the chair the last two days almost the entire day and yesterday took a walk down the hall with help. He is not closed up completely because they are worried about infection in his stomach because of some leakage when they cut into him. So, right now he has a “vac-pack” and drain. Yesterday, they removed the nose-to-stomach tube and all he has left is his IVs. He’s not allowed to eat or drink anything just yet.
So, I am being Super Mom and Super Wife.. juggling it all plus school. I have a great support system with the family, thank God.
But, dear readers… I wanted to let you know that my blog posts for this week and possibly next week will be hit or miss. Probably more “hit” than miss… because it is the one thing that keeps me sane. Please forgive me and “stick” with me… I’ll be here when I can.
We’d appreciate any thoughts or prayers you could send our way.
I love you all!
