Sunday Stealing – 5/9/2021

Happy Mother’s Day to all – whether you are a kid mom, pet mom, or someone important to a child. Today is Sunday, so it is time for Sunday Stealing. Grab the questions over on the Sunday Stealing blog, link up and have some fun!

1. Five problems with social media

The people on it. People who don’t understand they can scroll past what they don’t agree with. Trolls. People who say things because they are somewhat anonymous on social media. Bullying.

2. A place you would like to live, but have never visited

Montana

3. Someone who fascinates you and why

Ruth Bader Ginsberg. My daughter did a report on her and I was amazed at how much she did for women’s rights. I also love how she fought the stigma of being a working mom and managed to be taken seriously. Plus, I think her unspoken comments on rulings in the Supreme Court (with her collars) was awesome.

4. Do you have tattoos?  What are they and why?

Nope. I want to get one but have yet to find someone I trust to do it.

5. A book you love, and one you didn’t.

Loved Into the Wilderness by Sara Dontai. It is one of my favorite books. I am struggling with One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow by Olivia Hawker. I saw such good reviews about it all over but I just can’t get into it.

6. A fruit you dislike, and why

Raw apples. I hate the texture of them in my mouth.

7. Two words/phrases that make you laugh

What the actual F&*%. And, I’m a goofy goober (from Sponge Bob).

8. A quote you try to live by

If there is no wind; row.

9. Something you miss

Working with my best friend and how we were able to make work fun for the people in the factory with treats and surprises and fun events.

10. Three weird traits you have

I can pick up things with my feet. I have a crazy sense of smell. I can do a pretty awesome Elvis snear.

11. What you wore today

Hoodie, tank top, and yoga pants.

12. Word/phrase you use constantly

Seriously?!

13. One thing you’re excited for

Being able to go back to “normal” in the real world. Not that I don’t like the extra time I have gotten to spend with my kids, or getting to work from home. But, I am so tired of having to wear a mask, think twice about touching my face, and I miss eating inside a restaurant!

14. Your feelings on ageism

I am 42 years old, I see it every day at work. (Along with sexism). I am lucky in the fact that I look younger than I am, had kids late in life, and got my degrees later in life. So, by all guesstimates, people think I am younger than what I am. But, it sucks on a whole. I have watched close friends be treated poorly or not given opportunities due to their age. A favorite of mine is, not promoting someone because they are within 10 years of retirement. Or when there is a retirement option and hundreds of years of knowledge and experience get forced choose to leave. As I get older, it gets more and more frustrating.

15. Three interesting facts about yourself

I love putting together Lego sets. I am notorious for talking to famous people and not realizing it at the time. I hate the smell of coffee.
