Is this Chinese?

February 8, 2013

Last week, the Hubs texted me at lunch and said he had a hankering for General Tao’s chicken.  I am not one to pass up Chinese food, so I asked when we could go.  We ended up having pizza that night.  (From where else, but our favorite place…)  Come Saturday, we were dying to get out of the house so we decided to go out to lunch some place.  The Hubs suggested the Mexican place he just found in the next town over.  I agreed.

As we were walking out of the house, Mo asked where we were going.

I replied, “Out to lunch.”

She asked, “Where to?”

I started laughing and looked the Hubs and said, “Chinese.”

We got in the car and slowly drove to the next town because the roads were starting to get icy with the snow falling.

We get to the restaurant, walk in and are taken to our seats.  After 10 minutes of everyone fumbling with heavy winter gear, we are finally able to sit down.

The waiter comes over and brings us menus and the chips and salsa.

While he is standing there taking our drink orders, Morgan turns to me and asks, “Mommy, can I ask you a question” in this LOUD fake whisper.

I whispered (normally) back, “Yes baby, what is it?”

She whispers loudly again, “Is this Chinese?”

The waiter bust out laughing, the other workers sitting at a nearby table started laughing, the Hubs and I were laughing, and once again, I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me whole.

But, on a side note… it was the best Chinese Mexican food I’ve had this side of Sedona.

Laughter is the best medicine! I personally like Mexican over Chinese so would be happy if all Chinese food started with chips and salsa! 😛 Happy Monday!
