A little girl named Elena was a victim of brainstem glioma when she was five years old. During her fight, she created art that has become famous – it is now the logo for The Cure Starts Now Foundation. Nine months later, her fight ended. There are many other children with the same stories. The Cure Starts Now is dedicated to curing cancer. One child’s fight for her life has become the cry of children with brainstem glioma everywhere. But what does this have to do with you and this blog post? Read on.
Graeter’s Ice Cream has once again teamed up with The Cure Starts Now to offer their Cones for a Cure event. On Monday, September 16th, Graeter’s will be giving away FREE scoops of Elena’s Blueberry Pie Ice Cream in a sugar cone at participating Graeter’s locations in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Lexington, and Louisville. Elena’s Blueberry Pie Ice Cream is a special flavor that was created in honor of Elena who was the inspiration behind The Cure Starts Now.
Guests that visit Graeter’s will be given the opportunity to donate $1 (OR MORE!) for Cones for the Cure! So far, the 2013 campaign has raised over $25,000! The money goes to fund research for a cure to pediatric brain cancer. And, Cones for the Cure is the sweetest way to cure cancer and bring a smile to a child’s face. The goal for the campaign this year is $40,000– and we are half-way there!
“Sometimes the best way to cure cancer is with a little cream and sugar.”
