Bill Gates Might Be Coming for Thanksgiving Dinner

October 24, 2012

I started my blog in June just on a whim.  It was something I had always wanted to do, but never really pursued.  I had a website back when Geocities still existed, but never went beyond that when they shut down.

Enter Blogger.  Then WordPress.

I started my blog in June of 2012.  It has been an amazing journey, and its only been a few months!  I have met women from around the world that I consider bloggy friends.  I had the opportunity to attend Bloggy Conference in Cincinnati.  I’ve had the chance to review products and support various programs and charities.  I have chosen to NOT use my blog to make money.

I love blogging.

One of the things I am most proud of though, is being chosen to be on the Global Team 200.  Through our blogs, we have been able to promote, educate, and support various organizations.  We are kinda like a grassroots organization getting the word out.  A few weeks ago, Jennifer James (founder of Mom Bloggers for Social Good and the Global Team 200) sent a call out with a question on how we give back.  I sent in my comment and she used it in a post on Babble Voices.

Cool, right?

Well, sit back… it gets even cooler…

Last night, I was messing around on Facebook and was on the Global Team 200 page and saw a link that her post was picked up by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and was reposted on their blog Impatient Optimists.

It still amazes me the impact that one blog post can have on a good cause.

I say I blog for me… and I do.  But, I blog for my readers too.

We can make a difference.  One post and one person at a time.

I volunteer with the Clubhouse any chance I get.  I had never volunteered before working at my present job.  Never.  It wasn’t something I was interested in.  But, to see that I can make a difference in someone’s life, it makes the time spent worth it.  To give back, you don’t have to do so monetarily.  You can give your time.  It is needed just as much.

But, let’s get down to the nitty gritty… which is why I am writing this post…

I’m almost famous.
