Belamere Suites: Hidden Gem in Ohio

In Perrysburg, Ohio, just off the interstate in a small community, there is a drive surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaping. You might miss the sign, unless you know what you are looking for. If you turn down this drive, you come to an office with several condo-like buildings behind it. From the outside, it looks like a small condo community. While rather unassuming, your romantic and luxurious getaway starts the moment you pull open the office door and are greeted by your concierge.

Walking into the office, you are immediately greeted by friendly staff members. The real world begins to fade away as they check you in and hand you the key, a filled ice bucket and chocolates. As you leave, you are told to call or text with any requests, issues, questions… no matter how small.

Driving 4-5 hours from home, packing and unpacking, stressing about accommodations and restaurants in the area does not set the tone for a romantic getaway.

Belamere Suites in Perrysburg, has four suite types available for all budgets – the Ultimate Whirlpool Suite, the Presidential Pool Suite, the Royal Swimming Pool Suite and the Grand Royal Swimming Pool Suite. Each is beautifully decorated, has a private one-car garage, catered breakfast, and 24 hour concierge service.

Yes, you read that correctly… there are private, heated swimming pools in the Presidential Pool, Royal Swimming Pool and Grand Royal Swimming Pool suites. All of the suites have a whirlpool tub, walk in shower, and fireplace!

We wanted to keep you close to your home and your kids but far enough away that you could experience a restful retreat.

Each morning, we sent a quick text to our concierge for breakfast. In a few minutes, a basket was delivered with juice, warm delicious pastries, and coffee. They also have cookies, pizza, and other baskets available for purchase. There is even a mini fridge in your room to bring your own snacks and drinks.

I was rather apprehensive staying in a resort that isn’t part of a “chain.” I am a die-hard Choice Hotels patron. However, from the moment we walked in, until the moment we left, our getaway was amazing. The staff will take care of your every whim and need… they will even warm leftovers up for you in the office! I later found out that Belamere Suites was ranked #6 on the Travelocity’s Most Romantic Hotels in the World list, #1 on the Most Romantic Hotel in the USA, and #15 in the Best Service in the USA.

My fears were totally unfounded. The entire experience was amazing. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The pool area had “mood” lighting, a deck area with beach chairs, and an amazing mural on the walls. We were close to area restaurants and shopping, yet tucked back in a quiet area without the noises of every day life to ruin the tranquility.

Belamere Suites also has a few romantic “secrets.” Take a short walk to “Sweetheart Bridge” and check out all the love locks that have been attached. You can even have your own lock – complete with initials and a date – ready for you and your honey to attach when you check in. Right outside the office door is the wish tree. Before leaving, add your biggest wish to the tree and put it out in the universe to come true!

In addition to their regular amenities, they have all kinds of add-on amenities also- massages, snacks, special packages, wine, candles, flowers, rose petals and even helicopter rides! Basically, just ask… they can probably do it!

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all!

You cannot go wrong with this hidden gem in Ohio. I mean, come on… you have a 18′ x 11′ private, heated pool in your suite! How can it get any better?

I only have one complaint – we had to go home and back to the “real world.”
