Bacon and Bleu Burger

October 18, 2016

For lunch, my bestie and I sometimes go to a local wing place.  A few weeks ago, I tried out their new bacon and bleu burger and said to myself, “Self, I need to recreate this.”  So, here it is for your dining pleasure!  It is not two flavors I would immediately put together but with everything piled onto a brioche bun it is the most amazing burger in the world!  Don’t scrimp and make sure you buy good bleu cheese dressing though… life is too short to not get the real stuff!  Enjoy!

Bacon and Bleu Burger

1 lb ground round

4 brioche buns

4 ounces cooked bacon pieces/crumbles

4 ounces bleu cheese dressing

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons black pepper

2 teaspoons steak/grill seasoning

1-2 teaspoons butter

Form four, quarter-pound hamburger patties, pressing into approximately 3/4″-1″ thickness.  Set aside.  Heat pan over medium-low heat.  Place 1 teaspoon butter in pan and allow to melt.  Place buns in pan (top sides up) and toast until surface is golden brown.  If needed, add another teaspoon of butter to toast remaining buns.  Set aside.  Turn heat up to medium-high. Place patties in same skillet used to toast buns.  Sprinkle the burgers evenly with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 2 teaspoons of grill seasoning.  Allow to sit in the pan for 3-5 minutes.  Using a spatula, carefully flip burgers over to the other side.  You should have a dark brown “sear” on the side that was in the pan.  If not, increase heat slightly.  Season top side with remaining seasonings.  Allow to cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.  Continue flipping every 3-5 minutes until your desired doneness is reached.  Remove burger patties from pan.  Use a paper towel to blot any visible grease on the patties.  Place burger on bun.  Top with 1 ounce of bleu cheese dressing and 1 ounce of bacon crumbles.  Place top on bun and enjoy!
