A Cross to Kill by Andrew Huff (Review)

December 1, 2019

Andrew Huff’s breakout first novel is reminiscent of my Jack Bauer and 24 watching days. I lived and breathed for the next installment. Andrew Huff’s new book is the same way – I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what happened next. Move over Jack, John Cross is here to save the world.

From the first line of A Cross to Kill, you realize this is not going to be a boring book. You are immediately immersed into John Cross’ world – a world of terrorism, suspense, and action. You cannot put the book down… as you follow the story of John Cross and the past that has come back to make him pay for his sins.

A small-town pastor is not someone who you would think would have a shady past – but, then again, we all have a past that perhaps we do not want to share. Take John Cross, for example, he was once an assassin for the CIA, but now he is behind the pulpit leading his flock to God. He has made a vow to never kill again and to repent for the lives he previously took.

Well, until a terrorist out for revenge walks into Church hell-bent on making John Cross pay for transgressions.

John must confront his past and face his demons while protecting his congregation and the woman he loves. John has to decide if he can protect the people he cares about, while still keeping his vow to never kill again. And, with a terrorist out for retribution, will John have to sacrifice himself to save his congregation?

God has forgiven John Cross, but has John Cross forgiven himself?

A Cross to Kill is not your typical Christian fiction book. It shows the struggle we all have to focus on God, rather than the outside influences that can take over our lives. From beginning to end, this book is action-packed and a nail-biting thriller. I cannot wait for the next installment!

Get to know Cross. Get to know Huff. I think we are going to be spending a lot of time with them.

And…. heads up… Andrew said the next installment – Cross Shadow – is coming soon…
