Weight Loss Tips and eMeals #gethealthy

If you are like most Americans, you are overweight.  If you are like me, you have struggled with your weight for years.  Do you know what you need to do?  Do you know how many calories to eat?  I came across some helpful information I thought I would share with my readers.

We know that to lose weight you must create a negative deficit of 3500 calories for every pound.  You can do this by eating less each day, exercising more, or doing both.  But, how many calories do you need to eat to stay your current weight?

Alright, so we figured that part out…. so, how do you go about losing weight?  You create a calorie deficit, right?  You can do this by burning 500 more calories a day, eating 500 calories less a day, or doing a combination of both.

So, I encourage you to sit down today and make a plan.  Don’t change everything all at once.  Make small, simple changes over time.  Create yourself a chart to record your caloric intake– or use the one below.  Make a list to remind yourself of why you want to lose weight.  Put motivational quotes and pictures on your fridge.  Take it slowly and do it one step at a time.

  1. Oh, I don’t count calories…I remember my mom counting calories EVERY day….it should be instilled in my head to do so…I mainly watch fats and sugars and salt.
    This is a great chart though – I see where my son needs only 1200 calories a day. That’s not a lot if I remember right…but like I said I never was a calorie counter.

  2. I think you hit the nail on the head… we Americans are over weight. I love the helpful charts and seems to be very helpful for those counting calories. There are also many apps that help for on the go too. Good advise about not biting off more than you can chew (pardon the pon) in the beginning. ~Sharon

  3. I’m following two lovely ladies. I love Kim and Sharon. Weight loss is tough stuff, I’m glad you feel E-meals is helping the journey. Careful not to just cut calories, from what I’m told most people gain it back that way – disclaimer not a trainer, or dietitian. I have a friend who is a trainer that says the best way to lose inches (which really is what we’re after right) is building muscle. This way your bodies metabolism isn’t affected, but the extra muscle burns extra calories (a.k.a love handles)

  4. eMeals is a good way to go to get your meals planned. All to many times we don’t plan so we stop on the way home and grab take out. I personally don’t count calories but just don’t eat any preprocessed food. I wholeheartedly agree with you on starting slow. Baby steps is the key.
