It’s almost the dog-days of summer. What better way to beat the heat than having an ice cream party with Ruggles Ice Cream?! (Or, you can just have your own ice cream party for one… I won’t tell.) If you haven’t tried Ruggles Premium Ice Cream… log off and go get some. I’ll wait. Good. You’re back. Okay, seriously… Ruggles Ice Cream is delicious and best of all its located right here in Ohio, in Orville. Ruggles is made by the Smith’s Dairy– a family owned dairy farm that was purchased with $300 borrowed from a friend in 1909. Since then, Smith’s Dairy has grown from a milk wagon serving 200 Orville homes to a well-known name brand in Ohio and Indiana.
I had the opportunity to host a ice cream party during 4th of July thanks to Smith’s Dairy and Ruggles Premium Ice Cream. The kids LOVE Smith’s milk in the yellow jug, but we had never tried Ruggles Ice Cream. Oh. My. Word. Creamy and delicious. Those are the only words I can come up with. It was ice cream paradise in my mouth. I am a mint-chocolate chip kinda girl. However, for the party I decided to branch out and get a wide variety of flavors.
We picked out Peanut Butter Cup, French Vanilla, Birthday Cake, Buckeye Blast and Mint Chocolate Chip. Oh. My. If I could have, I’d have eaten a scoop of every one each time! While the mint chocolate chip was divine – huge chunks of chocolate and a delicious mint flavor – the Birthday Cake was my new favorite. The kids loved the Buckeye Blast with its buckeyes and peanut butter and the Hubs liked the Peanut Butter Cup. And, this isn’t even all their flavors! They have traditional flavors of course, but they also have Moose Tracks, Chocolate Covered Pretzel, Salty Caramel, Cookie Treasure, Turtle Treasure, and Red Velvet Cupcake. (Okay, I want some ice cream now.) Next time, I am definitely going for the chocolate covered pretzel. Yum.
