Easter Sunday 2014

As most of you know, we tend to do something a little different on Easter Sunday.  Okay, so maybe it is a lot different.  Every year, since the kids were infants, we have headed up to the local lake, ate lunch at McDonald’s and then fed the ducks.  It started as a needed escape to get out of the house with newborns, and has turned into a tradition that will continue for years to come.

This year was no different.  Well, except for the psycho goose.

On Saturday, we colored Easter eggs with Nana.  It was rather bittersweet.  This was the first year that Don’s mom wasn’t with us – she would always come up to color eggs before Easter with the kids.  Everyone had fun though, so that was all that mattered.

Everyone got in on the action, even daddy.

On Sunday, we got up and headed for the lake for a few hours.  We even had an entire loaf of bread to feed the ducks.  We ate lunch at McDonald’s and then headed out back to the boat docks.  (Yes, you can dock at McDonald’s and come in and eat.)  There were a couple of ducks across the way, but they didn’t seem too interested in our food.  We decided to move on to a different area.

Down the road from McDonald’s, on one of the “islands”, is a state park area.  We stopped there and found some ducks that wanted to eat our yummy bread.  We had lots of fun – well, until a crazy goose came running across the grass at us hissing and scaring away the ducks to get to the bread.  Crazy thing.

Again this year, we celebrated Easter in a non-traditional way.  One, I hope our kids will always remember.

Well, except for the crazy goose.

  1. Very fun time, look forward to this Easter adventure every year. That goose was definitely a little crazy for sure

  2. In my experience, all geese are crazy. And mean.
I’m glad you had a great day despite the goose.
