Recently, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Carmen Catizone, the Executive Director of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy Foundation (NABP). I was able to ask him several questions about prescription drug abuse and about the NABP’s AWARXE website and the Drug Enforcement Agency’s drug Take-Back Day on April 26th.

My father never told me no. As a teenage girl, when I decided to become a drag racer, my father started teaching me about cars and racing. He believed in me 100% and never questioned the fact that perhaps being one of a few females in a male-dominated sport might be an issue. I remember him telling me, over the engine of my race car, “You are just as good as any man out there. Better even.” (more…)
To be honest, I have been sitting here staring at the “add new post” screen for almost an hour. I don’t know what to write. I’m not even sure I am able to put into words what I am feeling. Last year, at the Global Newborn Health Conference in Johannesburg began working on improving newborn health and survival worldwide. One child’s death, is one child too many. Over 2.9 million newborns die within their first month of life. 2.9 million. 2.9 million moms and dads bury their children before their lives even begin to start.
The mission of the Monkey Do Project is straightforward. “The Monkey Do Project partners with groups and organizations to assist the most distressed areas of the United States Appalachian region through different efforts as an ongoing outreach for the Appalachian community.” We work towards reducing hunger and poverty here in the United States in the one of the poorest regions. Each year, Bill and Melinda Gates issue their annual co-authored letter. This year’s letter, “Three Myths That Block Access for the Poor,” addresses three of the biggest myths about poverty. These myths cause people not to act. They cause people to take the outlook of, “Well, its not getting better, why bother?” In their annual Gates letter, Bill and Melinda address these myths and make their prediction for the future.
